California’s teacher shortage is nearing crisis as aftershocks from the recession begin to take hold. Several factors make up reasons for the teacher shortage. Recession layoffs, inter-state competition, and high housing costs, particularly in San Francisco. Other reasons for the shortage and plans to improve the situation are explained and rationalized in this segment.
